Sugar House - The Sweetest Bar in Town

People have been telling me to go to Sugar House for months and I am officially an asshole for not listening to them. I finally went on Friday night and drank myself silly. It's easy to do when no matter what they serve you it's the best drink you have ever tasted.

I kept ordering Moscow Mules, which has been my favorite drink ever since the owners of Green Dot Stables introduced it to me. They go down way too easy and have a lot more liquor than you would think they do. I also tried a drink called Sneaky Pete that was made with rye whiskey and milk, not something I would normally even taste, but it was delightful. I told everyone at the table that I had to try their drink for research and no matter what it was, bourbon, rum, or whiskey, I loved it. Usually I am the pickiest drinker in the world and cannot tolerate anything other than Mules, high balls, and champagne, so it was nice to step outside box.

I not only enjoyed the libations, but I loved the service and the atmosphere of the Sugar House. We were seated at a nice table in the very dimly lit bar. I loved the dark lighting, it made for an intimate setting. The music was great, the bar was full of laughter, and it was one of the nicest times I have ever had at a bar. I can't wait to go back and try more drinks. I do have to warn you, the prices are on the higher side, but it is worth it. I'm sure two drinks would be enough for most people. I had to be greedy and go for three and I don't regret it one bit.

I highly recommend checking this place out as soon as possible. I have a feeling I'm about to become a regular. The Sugar House is located at 2130 Michigan Ave. in Detroit. Doors open at 5 p.m. everyday and close at Midnight on Monday and Tuesday and 2 a.m. on all other days.
