Celebrate 100 Years of Detroit's Iconic Book Tower (Free Exhibit)

This year, Detroit celebrates a remarkable milestone as the historic Book Tower reopens its doors after a Bedrock-led renovation. As part of the grand reopening, a captivating Historic Exhibition now graces the lobby, offering a journey through a century of history.

The exhibition showcases the area's evolution through vintage photos, maps, and newspaper clippings.

What sets it apart are unique artifacts discovered during the meticulous restoration, including architectural renderings from the 1920s and an original caryatid from the building's exterior. Generously loaned by the Book family, these treasures include a 1929 invitation honoring Thomas Edison and a comprehensive family genealogy, tracing roots to the city's earliest landowners.

While you visit, explore this living time capsule, share your memories with the Detroit Historical Society, and uncover hidden stories with Bedrock's Book Tower app.

The Historic Exhibition is free and open to the public daily, inviting all to step inside and celebrate the legacy of this towering Detroit icon.

The Book Tower is located at 1265 Washington Blvd. Detroit, MI 48226.
