A Double Dose of Ancient Language

Now that Phantasmagoria has announced that they are taking an indefinite break, Ancient Language, Chris Jarvis' side project, is free to play more often. He must've realized this because he booked two great back to back shows this week that I thought our readers might want to check out.

The first show is this Thursday and starts at 11 p.m. It will feature music by Coyote Clean Up (a.k.a. Ice Cold Chrissy), Ancient Language, and Bobby Dolo. This event will be hosted at the H2BT Lounge (a.k.a. Doc's Penthouse) located at 1440 Gratiot Avenue. Entry is in the back then walk all the way to the top floor. They are promoting free infused water at this is event. I'd like to know what that really means. Someone drink it and report back to me, please. I think this show is free but only because nobody can tell me if there is a price. So maybe make sure you have 5 bucks in your pocket in case you need it.

Friday night Chris will be performing alongside Self Says, The Anonymous, and Lenny Stoofy at the Trumbullplex. This show starts at 7 p.m. and is only $6. It is also an all ages show. The Trumbullplex is located at 4210 Trumbull in Detroit. If you have never been there, it is one of my favorite small spots in Detroit. The library located in the space was transported from an old record shop I used to work at called Idle Kids. While you're there I highly suggest checking it out. There's lots of great punk rock propaganda to read through. Trumbullplex is also one of those cool places where you can have a beer, have a smoke, and nobody's going to bother you. A great place to see all these artists and dance and have a good time.

If you can't make it out to the shows remember that Ancient Language has a monthly event at The Loving Touch called High Vibrations that features different artists each month. The next monthly installment of this event will be July 18th. These monthly features are always free so it's a great place to check out Chris and his friends!
