International Pop Overthrow at PJ's Lager House

Pop music will be taking over PJ's Lager House all weekend long as the International Pop Overthrow Festival heads to town. This event has been going on for 14 years in L.A., but over the years it has branched out to other big cities across the globe. This marks the 6th year that IPO has ventured to Detroit.

The International Pop Overthrow Festival features bands in each city that have a pop music feel to it. The Detroit dates feature many local favorites including Mike Leslie Band and The HandGrenades. The goal of IPO is to bring these bands together in a festival setting, which isn't typical for some of them, as well as to help promote the bands with hopes of them getting major record deals. Sounds like a cool gig for bands to be a part of and with 14 years under their belt and shows around the world, IPO probably knows a thing or two about the music industry.

The Detroit IPO shows are this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, April 4th-6th, with both afternoon and evening shows on Saturday. It's $10 to get in to the Lager House each night and $8 to get in to the Saturday afternoon show. You can see the full schedule of dates and times bands will be playing here.
