Revival Tour

Friday night The Magic Stick hosted The Revival Tour which has been making its way across the U.S. to spread the sounds of folk American and independent music. This year’s lineup featured Chuck Ragan, the creator of the festival, alongside friends Jenny Owen Youngs, Tim Mcllrath (Rise Against), Rocky Votolato and Dave Hause (The Loved Ones).
This show is very unique in that it just keeps going; once the music started it didn’t stop until the night was over. No breaks, no load-ins or load-outs. Just a great night of music to keep you entertained. Throughout the night all the musicians showed their incredible skills by switching what instruments they played, who was singing, and whose music they were focusing on.

Jenny Owen Youngs kicked off the night, and Chuck of course ended it. I knew that I was going to enjoy this show, but I have to admit I didn’t know I would like it as much as I did. Folk American is not a genre that I am usually attracted to, and I thought it might be a little too country for me, but it definitely wasn’t. We clapped, danced and sang along and had a good time. I still get goose bumps when I hear Chuck Ragan scream and love to watch the way that Jenny handles a crowd. By the time she was done she had won the audience over and made half the people in the room fall in love with her.

I shot a few pictures so you could see what you missed out on. I hope that Chuck continues to do these tours and invite his friends out with him because we will definitely be coming back next year if he is.
