Hip in Detroit's Picks for the Weekend: August 15th - 17th, 2025

Friday, August 15th - Edison Hollow @ Small's: Edison Hollow has a new album out and they're having a big release party Friday night at Small's! Joining them are Cherry Drop and Sonic Smut. Cover is $10 for 21+ and $15 for 18-21. Doors open at 7 PM and the music starts at 8 PM. Give the new album, Sign of the Times, a listen here. (It's also the late great Kat's birthday Friday, so be sure to have a drink in celebration of her life while you're at Small's!)

Saturday, August 16th - James Linck @ Paris Bar: One of our absolute favorites, James Linck, has a new album out! This Saturday night, celebrate this release and hear some of the new tunes live at Paris Boy. Power Moonroof, Eddie Logix, and At The Moment are also performing, trust us when we say you don't want to miss this one! Things kick off at 9 PM Saturday. Head over and stream or download One on One here.

Friday, August 15th - The Queers @ The Sanctuary: This Friday night, The Sanctuary welcomes The Queers to their stage along with The Jasons! Making this show even more awesome is the stellar lineup of locals also on the bill, including Frank White, Middle-Out, and The Idiot Kids. Tickets are $25 + fees and can be purchased here. Doors open at 6 PM and The Idiot Kids start things off at 6:30 PM, so get there early!

Sunday, August 17th - Detroit Music Scene Mixer @ Guitar Hi-Fi: The fine folks at GIG are throwing a really cool event this Sunday in Royal Oak! The Detroit Music Scene Mixer will feature food, networking, resources, door prizes, and live music from 12-4 PM at Guitar Hi-Fi in Royal Oak. Whether you're a fan, looking to get on some different gigs, or just looking to meet some fellow music enthusiasts, swing by and check it out. Cover is a suggested donation of $5 at the door.

Don't forget, the Woodward Dream Cruise is this weekend! So if you're not into that, avoid Woodward!
