Mondo Montage at Funhouse Gallery

This weekend Detroit is all about art. We found a really cool art show that you should check out. Mondo Montage is a display featuring collage art. This highly underrated form of art is one of my favorites. The way artists can bring bits and pieces together to make something beautiful is amazing to me. The possibilities and types of creations formed through collage art are vast and astonishingly different from one artist to the next.

This show will feature several different forms of collage art from fifty artists, both local and international. Amongst the long list of artists is one of my local favorites, Johnny U.F.O. Other than the array of collages at Mondo Montage there will also be a side show featuring ceramic by local artist Kelly Kaatz.

Mondo Montage will be held at Funhouse Gallery Detroit, which is located at 1600 Clay St. in Detroit. The show will open on Saturday, April 13th and runs through May 18th. You probably want to go to the opening party this Saturday though, because they have quite the night planned. The opening will feature music from Best Idea Ever, Desolation Angels  and The Lookouts. The festivities start at 7 p.m. on Saturday and run until 11 p.m. If you can't make it out to the opening, Funhouse Gallery's hours are Fridays from 5-9 p.m.and Saturdays from 2-6 p.m., as well as every third Thursday from 5-9 p.m. For all of the details on Mondo Montage, and for a full list of artists involved in this show, visit the Facebook event page here
