Green Day's American Idiot - LIVE on Stage This Weekend!

Back in 2004 a little 3 piece band called Green Day released an album called American Idiot. This record transformed this pop punk trio from a band that rebellious teens listened to, to an enormously popular and highly regarded band. It even attracted so much attention that American Idiot, the rock opera that tells the story of Jesus of Suburbia, was even turned into a Broadway musical. It was kind of surprising, and still seems pretty strange to me, that the same band that offended parents around the world with their raunchy song about having some "fun alone time" was now the inspiration for a Broadway play. Yet, the reviews were overwhelmingly positive and many of my friends that have seen it said it is amazing. In fact, the show is so popular that it has had approximately a 5 year run with shows on Broadway and they have even taken it out on the road.

If you want to check out American Idiot - The Musical for yourself, it is heading to the Detroit Opera House this weekend (January 31st thru February 2nd). This is a limited engagement with shows on Friday evening at 8 p.m., Saturday evening at 8 p.m., Sunday at 7:30, and matinees on Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets range from $25 to $89.
