This Sunday, February 26, 2012 at 7pm The 84th Academy Awards, better know as the Oscars, will be airing live on ABC. Billy Crystal somehow is returning for the 9th time as host of the event, even though many, including me, cannot stand him! Presenters for this years awards include Tom Hanks, Angelina Jolie, Halle Berry, Tom Cruise, Jennifer Lopez, Cameron Diaz, Penelope Cruz, Emma Stone and the cast of "Bridesmaids".
Jimmy Kimmel Live will be hosting its 7th Annual "Live After the Academy Awards" immediately after the broadcast. He will have appearances from many of the presenters, as well as some of the night's winners. I actually usually enjoy his after show much more than the awards.
The Oscars tend to be boring, but also have some of the best red carpet fashion. So yes, I watch more for the gowns then the awards. This year that statement really rings true because I haven't seen half the nominated films, and probably won't see most of them. A little too serious for my taste.
The gossip is that Sacha Baron Cohen plans to show up as his latest character "The Dictator" and the academy is stating they won't let him in "in costume". So, that might be some fun drama to watch for and see if something funny happens.
Here's the list of nominees in the bigger categories. I don't have any pics because the nominees are so boring that it's hard to care. I will say, I'd love to see Michelle Williams win for her portrayal of Marilyn Monroe because it was really great!
