Is It Possible That The WAB's Menu Is Even Better Than Before???

The W.A.B. has said goodbye to their old menu and ushered in a new one. The days of nachos, cashew turkey sandwiches, and turkey chili are over. Instead they want to be the place to go to in Ferndale when you want a fresh slice.

The WAB redid their kitchen and installed a wood stone oven so that they could get into the pizza slinging business. They refocused their menu around the pizza and are now serving appetizers, soups, salads, and panini sandwiches. The menu is limited and fine tuned and upon first glance the only thing I thought I would eat was the pizza. I’m a very plain eater and all of the appetizers sounded a little too intimidating to me. Thankfully, my dining mate was an explorer and he convinced me to order the I Dip, You Dip , We Dip (an appetizer made with beer cheese dip, chorizo, and crusty bread) and the Mad Hatter (a portabella mushroom topped with spinach, red onion, ricotta cream, and balsamic glaze). Both appetizers were to die for. The portabella mushroom was one of my favorite items I have ever had from a restaurant. It was huge, creamy, and tasty, just the way I like it.

All of the items were incredibly fresh, the mushrooms on the pizza weren't from a can and the pepperoni was gourmet, not just something they ordered from Gordon’s. We also have to mention how good the service was. The place was crowded and we were hungry, I couldn't believe how fast we got our food. I am honestly pumped about this change, and I don’t usually do well with change. The WAB seems to be better than ever!

  1. I'm a big fan of the new menu. The creative pizza options go quite well with the rotating beers WAB keeps formulating.

  2. Truthfully, I think the new menu is a step down. I hate the stupid bowls their small salads come in, they're impossible to eat out of without making a mess. The appetizer list has nothing that speaks to me on it. The paninis have almost no meat on them for what you're paying, especially compared to the grinders or sandwiches of past years. All my favorite things are gone.

The pizza is good but I'd love to know if anyone was clamoring for yet another pizza and brew joint. If they were gonna revamp the pizza, why get rid of all the other favorites on the menu?

I used to be a Monday regular, but I am struggling for reasons to go back after having given their new menu a few solid shots and been underwhelmed most of the time.
