DCFC Home Opener this Saturday!!!

The long, cold winter is over and Spring is finally here. And with spring comes soccer, or as some say, football. This Saturday, May 10th is the home opener for the Detroit City Football Club (DCFC). For those that don't know, DCFC is Detroit's minor league soccer team. The team, now in its third season, is part of the National Premier Soccer League’s Midwest Great Lakes Conference and plays at Cass Tech High School in Detroit. Their games are intense both on the field and in the stands. DCFC fans are known for their chants, their flares, and their rowdiness. But, it's all in the name of fun.

Traditionally, fans meet at local bars before the games, with the official pre-game spot being Harry's. This week will be no different. Saturday's game is set to kick off at 1 p.m. If you want to get in on the fun, meet at the bar before hand and march over with the "hooligans" a.k.a. "Le Rouge Supporters". If you don't want to get too crazy you can just show up at the field and sit in the milder fan section either. Both ways are fun! Tickets are only $8 in advance or $10 at the gate. If you plan on heading down with a big crowd, group options are available for $5 per person for groups of 10 or more. You can pick up tickets or get more info on them here. This season El Guapo and The Mac Shack will be on site dishing out their delicious food truck treats as well! So head down early and grab lunch before the game!

If you can't make it out to the season opener against the Cincinnati Saints, don't worry. The regular season runs through the middle of July. So there are plenty of chances to head down to Cass Tech and find out what DCFC is all about. You can check out the full schedule here.

Cass Tech is located at 2501 2nd Ave. in Detroit. Head over and "like" DCFC on Facebook to stay in the loop on team happenings and upcoming games.
