Due Time for New Music from Due North

This Friday, May 9th Due North will be releasing their latest album Saving Daylight. We received an advance copy of the jams and we loved it. So we not only wanted tell you about the show, but we wanted to check in with the band and ask them a few questions to learn more about the men behind the music. They will be bringing Allison Hanna a.k.a. The Gator and Vincent from Cheapshow on stage to perform with them and Loose Plains, Hawk and Son, Jake Simmons and the Little Ghosts, and Private Parts will be opening the show. 21+ are welcome and it's only $5 to get in the door. Take a look at what the band had to say and head out to see them at The Berkley Front this Friday.

HID- One word to describe the new album.
Jordan Wright- “Heartfelt”: "I know you asked for one word, but I felt this called for an explanation. This album is the culmination of a long and difficult creative process. We had to take a few years off from doing this band because of some pretty unfortunate personal stuff. The four of us have been through a lot the last few years – grief, loss, love – and I think those experiences shine through pretty clearly on these tracks."

HID- Where did you record the album?
Jordan Wright- "We recorded with one of our best friends, Charles Huber at Drifting Sun Studios in Ypsilanti. He’s been so generous and helpful – there’s not a doubt in my mind that this wouldn’t have been possible without him. Thanks Chuck, letting us drink your beer, pass out on your super comfy couches, and for making us hashbrowns in the morning."

HID- What's your favorite song off the album?
Jordan Wright- "'If I Fall Asleep' still gives me a shiver when I hear it. It’s probably one of the saddest songs I’ve ever heard."

HID- If you were an animal what animal would you be?
Jordan Wright- "We’re dog people (we have three in our house: Jake Dog, Dilsey, and Mickey), so I think we would all choose dogs. We love to sleep, eat, and chase each other around the backyard."

HID- How would you describe your music to someone that has never heard it?
Jordan Wright- "I would call it punk influenced rock and roll. Or punk influenced alternative. We tend to feel a little out of place at punk shows and a little too aggressive for indie or pop punk shows. We all really dig Americana, too – Springsteen, Petty, Mellencamp – I think those influences come through, as well."

HID- Skateboard, surf board, roller blades, or razor scooter?
Jordan Wright- "Not anymore. We walk or ride bikes. Please wear a helmet; if not for you, than for the people who care about you."

HID- If you died in 10 minutes what would you want to be remembered for?
Eric Plunkard- "Work ethic."

HID- What's your favorite local band?
Jordan Wright- "This is a really hard question, so we’re going to give you a list of favorites. The Gator, Cheapshow, Haunted House, Nick Ciolino, undesirable people, Hawk & Son, Break Anchor, Fires in Japan, Battle of Attrition, Frank White... There are so many more."

HID- Best local festival of the year and why?
Jordan Wright- "Pig and Whiskey Festival. I don’t think that warrants any explanation."

HID- Favorite place to eat in Michigan?
Jordan Wright- "Haven’t we gone over this? PIG AND WHISKEY, MAN."
