A New Music School & Your New Thursday Night!

A brand new music school will be opening up in Detroit this fall. We're not talking lessons for children either. This will actually be a college dedicated to teaching, "musicians who desire a long term, professional career in modern music."

DIME, the Detroit Institute of Music Education, plans to open their doors this Fall at 1265 Griswold in Detroit. They will offer courses in everything from Music Business to Improvisation. Programs will lead to either a Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Creative Music Performance. There will be Spring and Summer courses available for a variety of age groups as well.

If you would like to learn more about DIME like we do, they currently have a pop up location at 1520 Woodward Ave. in Detroit. There you can stop in for information or you can head out to one of the many events they have been holding. A great chance to check this place out is at their new series of shows on Thursday nights, with the first taking place on May 15th. This first edition of DIME's "Thursday Night Gigs" will feature My Pal Val and The Kickstand Band. Entry to the event is free and doors open at 6 p.m. with music starting at 7.

For more information on this show, head over to the Facebook event page here. For further details on DIME, visit their website at DIME-Detroit.com. We look forward to finding out more about this new opportunity in Detroit and sharing the info with all of you soon!
