The New Sunday Street Market at Eastern Market!

We all know that Detroit's Eastern Market has been bringing fruit, vegetables, and flowers to the people for over 100 years now. Every Saturday morning farmers from the area bring their goods downtown, in turn bringing thousands of people to the sheds to shop. Well, starting this week there is a new reason to head down to Eastern Market.

Starting this Sunday, June 1st, the Eastern Market Corporation will kick off their new Sunday Street Market. This market will feature vendors and artists spread throughout sheds 2 and 3. In addition to the goods, there will also be live music, food trucks, and there will be different features each week. For instance, this weekend for the kickoff, the Market is hosting artist and filmmaker Nicole Macdonald and her exhibit entitled “Factory Windows".

Entry to the Sunday Street Market is free, just like the Saturday market days, and it runs from 10 a.m. 'til 4 p.m. Don't worry if you can't make it out this weekend! This event will run weekly through September 28th. And there will be other fun events in conjunction with the Market every week! So, make sure you keep an eye on the Eastern Market Facebook page to stay in the loop on all of the happenings!
