Orion Music & More is headed to town June 8th and 9th! Metallica and some of their friends will be taking over Belle Isle for the entire weekend. The event includes a crazy line-up of bands. There are the big names that stand out, like Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Deftones. Then there are some other bands that are still big, but not quite as giant, that stood out to us including The Bronx, Gogol Bordello, Dropkick Murphys, Rocket From The Crypt, The Dillinger Escape Plan, DEATH, Battlecross and Fidlar. There's actually a lot of good ones on the list and some you might be surprised by. You can check out the entire line-up here. On top of all of the music, there's also a car show, Kirk's Crypt (which features horror film memorabilia and actors as well as haunted attractions), Vans professional skateboarders and a killer food court featuring local favorites including Slow's To Go!
Tickets for Orion are $90 a day or $150 for both days. You can pick them up online here. If that price is a little too steep for you, you can still join in on the party with the Orion Preshows and Aftershow. These shows include both bands that are featured during the festival and some that are not. Friday night at St. Andrew's you can catch Baroness with Coliseum. Tickets for this show are $27 (after taxes and fees) and are available through Live Nation. The other Preshow is one that we are particularly excited about, featuring Chevy Metal (Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters), The Orwells and THE BRONX! Tickets for this show are $29.50 and available through ticketweb. The Aftershow for Orion is on Sunday, June 9th at The Fillmore and Dillon Francis, Adventure Club and 12th Planet will be playing. That show is $29 and tickets are available through Live Nation.
So, obviously there is a lot going on for Orion and they are basically taking over Detroit for the weekend! There are bound to be parties and rock stars everywhere!
