Help Keep Detroit Parks Beautiful

People of Detroit really are doing some great things in and for the city. Everywhere you look something new is opening, someone is fixing something up or people are just supporting Detroit in general. The Motor City Grounds Crew are no different. They are working hard to make a difference in Detroit for the better.
Started in 2010, Motor City Grounds Crew's project is to provide lawn and curbside maintenance for 50 acres of City of Detroit parks and surrounding vacant properties. They go out every 10 days to work and maintain 9 parks that total 45 acres. They are making a change in their city by making schools and parks safer and cleaner, and reclaiming the neighborhoods.

Right now they are trying to raise $1,000 to help them keep these parks going through the peak summer season. One thousand dollars really isn't that much if everyone pitches in a little. And keeping these parks open gives Detroit residents somewhere nice to go and take their kids and enjoy the beautiful summer weather. The sad truth is that Detroit does need a lot of work, and all of the people taking it upon themselves to make it beautiful again are truly impressive.

If you want to donate to the project, visit their Razoo page here. There is still two months left to donate, but the sooner you do, the sooner they reach their goal! To see examples of the parks they have been working at, head over to their Facebook and check out the pictures. Remember how much fun you always had at parks when you were younger, or even now still? Just think about that and how much even a small donation could help with this project. If you want to do more than just donate, you can volunteer to help clean up the parks, or take a look at the list of things they need here.
