¡Cinco de Mayo! It's Fiesta Time!

As I'm sure you are all aware, this year Cinco de Mayo falls on a Saturday. This Saturday! How lucky can we get? Some celebrations even start off on Friday. So it should be a long weekend of Corona's, Jose, tacos and sombreros.

Here are some of the parties that should be worth checking out this weekend:

Friday

Cinco de Mayo Tent Party @ Tequila Blue: The Grande Nationals, The Sights, Reefermen
From 5 p.m.- midnight (also on Saturday). Read our article about it here.

May the Fourth be With You- FLASHCLASH: WSG The Boy Wonders and Wireless G at the Shelter. Doors are at 9 p.m., 18+, tickets are only $10. Read our article about it here. Make sure to tell Yorg happy birthday while you're there!

ATG CD Release Show @ the Magic Stick: With A-Gang, Wilson, The Dewtons and Beast in the Field. ATG is releasing their second full length album, buy it at the show for only $3. Starts at 8 p.m. and only costs $5. Read more about it here.

Saturday

The Sights at the Town Pump Tavern: At 9 p.m. If you don't get enough of The Sights (how could you?) Friday, head on over and see them again!

Cinco de Drinko at the Old Shillelagh: There will be music and a gourmet taco bar after the Tigers game!

And of course, a list of some of the amazing restaurants we have at hand here in the Metro Detroit area:

Xochimilco- 3409 Bagley, Detroit
Mexican Town Restaurant- 3457 Bagley, Detroit
Grand Azteca- Madison Heights, Warren, Troy, Fraser, West Bloomfield, Sterling Heights (live band Saturday!)
Juan's Hacienda- 31313 Dequindre, Madison Heights
Mestizo Mexican Food With Soul- 32500 Van Dyke, Warren
Sangria Tapas Cafe- 401 South Lafayette, Royal Oak. They have tons of stuff going on all night!
Trini & Carmen's- 1715 North Telegraph, Waterford

Don't forget, we are lucky enough to have Mexicantown nearby, head down there for some really authentic food and celebrating!

Even if Cinco de Mayo isn't as big of a holiday in most of Mexico as it tends to be here, go stuff your face with enchiladas, fried ice cream, and Margaritas, I know I plan on it! If anyone sees the most interesting man in the world, please send him my way.

And just because I'm in a festive, Mexican mood now, enjoy:

Stay thirsty my friends.
