The First Ever Corktown STRUT Showcases Food, Music and Corktown!

This weekend the first ever Corktown STRUT will take place throughout the bars, restaurants and streets of Corktown. The event is being presented by Forward Arts Detroit, with help from Party Store Productions, Assemble SoundUrban Organic, TV Bar and Aphotic Segment. The festival will feature 2 full days of music, a week of great food, and one awesome kick off party.

Let's start with the food. Monday night kicked off Corktown STRUT's Culinary Week. Restaurants throughout Corktown will have featured menu items with special prices ranging from $10-$15. Some of the restaurants participating include Slows, Katoi, Gold Cash Gold and PJ's Lager House. For a full list of restaurants involved and pictures that will make your mouth water, click here.

Although the food portion of STRUT has already begun, the weekend of music kicks off on Friday night. The Detroit Free Press is sponsoring the official kick-off party that will take place on Friday, July 1st at Two James Annex. The party runs from 7 p.m. 'til 1 a.m. and will feature music from The HandGrenades, Valley Hush, Shigeto and a DJ set from Ryan Spencer. Then, on Saturday and Sunday, July 2nd and 3rd, eight bars and venues in Corktown will be featuring a ton of great acts. Check out the full music schedule below.
To get in to the venues during Corktown STRUT you will need special passes that can be purchased online here or at Two James Annex and Batch Brewing over the weekend. A weekend pass will run you $30, while single day passes are $20 per day. The kick-off party is only $8 and is not included in the weekend pass.
