Fall in Love with Some of Detroit's Best music at Fallout Fest 2

Last year when I heard that Jesse Shepherd-Bates and John Morgan were booking a small festival at the New Dodge I was intrigued. They had posted that there would be two stages inside the New Dodge and I was a little skeptical about how it would all work out. The New Dodge is a big venue, but it's not that big. I also wondered how a make shift stage would sound. To my surprise it all worked out perfectly, the sound was crystal clear, and it was the prefect place for an event like this.

Well, they are bringing Fall Out Fest back for a second year and they have a great lineup booked. I have no doubt that this year will be bigger and better than last year. But, you do not have to take my word for it, check out what JSB and John Morgan had to say about the event for yourselves.

HID- What made you decide to bring Fall Out Fest back for a second year?
Jesse Shepherd-Bates- "We had such a blast last year... we decided to do it again pretty early in the game this year, and hope to keep it up for years to come. We're standing by the no bands two years in a row policy... last year's lineup was a sight to behold, but it gave us a new and interesting challenge in booking this year (and it turned out AWESOME)."
HID- Why did you name the stages Wasteland and Bunker?
John Morgan- "I figured that's what Mad Max would have called them... plus "1st Stage" and "2nd Stage" was already taken."
HID- 10 bands 2 stages, how long of a set will each band be playing?
John Morgan- "About 30 minutes or until an amp catches fire."
HID- What band are you most looking forward to seeing?
Jesse Shepherd-Bates- "I'm really psyched for El Dee's set... I last saw them in the Spring at The Loving Touch and they played a hell of a show. This will also be Valley Hush's first show, so there is some buzzy excitement there... and it's no secret to anyone that will listen that Loretta Lucas wrote one of my favorite songs ever ("Cassanova"). Did I mention I'm excited for this show?"
John Morgan- "I was looking forward to seeing Deadly Viper Assassination Squad, but I think they had some math homework or something and had to drop out. I've been wanting to see Tart, because I love female singers, Asians, and drum machines."
HID- What kind of art will you have and where will it be displayed?
John Morgan- "Andrea is curating the art which will be on the upper deck and feature some rad local works."
Jesse Shepherd-Bates- "I'm trying to talk my step-father into selling his prints. If he ends up with a booth you'll need to check out his stuff... especially the sheep."
HID- Will there be any drink specials?
John Morgan- "New Dodge Lounge IS a drink special."
HID- Who designed the poster? It's really cool!
John Morgan- "We sought out Crystal Mielcarek to design the poster. I'm a huge fan of hers and she's a pleasure to work with. She'll also have a booth at Fallout Fest 2."
HID- What makes the Detroit music scene special?
Jesse Shepherd-Bates- "It seems like you can't go anywhere without seeing a show on any given weekend night around here, and it's not hard to find something fun to see on a weeknight either. Metro Detroit is full of inspiring musicians inspiring other inspiring musicians... bills are crazy around here. There are no genre restrictions, and everyone seems to have a very open mind... I've spent the last decade freaking out about the talent that surrounds me here. Good job, everybody."
HID- Anything else that you would like our readers to know?
John Morgan- "There will be a cell phone charging station at the show with several adapters for iPhones and androids. Keep an eye on your shit though."
Jesse Shepherd-Bates- "Every band playing Fallout Fest is amazing! Show up early, stay late!"
