It's Time for the 20th Annual Woodward Dream Cruise!

This Saturday, August 16th marks the 20th Anniversary of The Woodward Dream Cruise. The event started in 1995 as a way to, "...relive and recreate the nostalgic heydays of the 50s and 60s, when youth, music and Motor City steel roamed Woodward Avenue, America’s first highway." For those that don't know, the Dream Cruise is a gathering of classic and exceptional cars. The vehicles drive up and down Woodward Ave. all the way from Pontiac to Detroit and also park in lots along the way to show off their stuff. When the cruise first started there were approximately 250,000 people in attendance, which was a pretty big number to start with.  It has since grown much larger with an average of 1.5 million participants every year.

The Woodward Dream Cruise is free to attend. You can go as a spectator and either sit on the side of the road or stroll up and down the sidewalk. Or, if you have a sweet car you can join in on the fun! Just head over and get in line on Woodward. The official cruise starts around 9 a.m. on Saturday, but as most Metro Detroiters know, cars will be driving up and down the strip all weekend and there are probably even cars out there as you're reading this. In addition to the cruise, there are a ton of car shows, entertainers, and even live music that will be along the sides of Woodward as well as other events. There is even a 5k, Cruise In Shoes, taking place on Saturday morning. For a full list of Woodward Dream Cruise events in each city along Woodward, click here.
