Spring MakeUp Tips with Jess Haze at Todd's Room!

Some women complain about having to shave their legs, wearing high heels, or putting makeup on. I am not one of those women. I love all things girl and don't mind practicing my get ready rituals with a smile on my face. I will admit that I hate blow drying my porous hair, but other than that I don't complain about playing dress up. I have spent an ungodly amount of money on makeup and countless hours trying to find new ways to apply it. I have read a million magazines and watched YouTube tutorials for hours, but recently I had somehow got stuck in a makeup rut. That’s when I noticed an extraordinary makeup artist on Instagram and got obsessed with her work, that artist's name is Jess Haze.

For the Hip In Detroit two year party I got my makeup done professionally at Todd’s Room in Birmingham by Jess. She did a glittery smokey eye and talked me through the application while she was doing it. I learned what highlighter was for and that I could wear thick liner under my eyes if it was done right. She did my make up at about 9 a.m. and when I took it off at 3 a.m. that night I realized it hadn't moved an inch. She completely changed the look of my face with her paints and brushes and I was really inspired after that session. She opened me up to wearing coral lips and made me see the benefit of getting your makeup professionally done for big events.

After my first visit I called her and asked her if we could do a video to share the experience I had with all of our readers. Christie and I ventured back to Todd’s and did a feature on spring make up. I gave Jess free reign to do whatever she wanted and learned two more new things about myself. I can look good without black eyeliner and purple lips are fucking awesome. She has me trying all sorts of new looks and understanding the art of blending a little better.

Todd's Room was started in a basement over 20 years ago and now occupies a large space in downtown Birmingham. They have their own makeup line (the lipsticks are great) and they specialize in doing perfect eyebrows. I point this out because I think it's hard to find a good place to get your brows done these days and it is such an essential service.
Getting my makeup done at Todd’s Room by Jess was by far one of the coolest experiences I have ever had. I encourage all of my ladies to book an appointment and try it for themselves. In the meantime, check out this video and get some tips on spring's hottest looks and colors from Jess.
