Happy Birthday 'Merica!

If you didn't go out of town for the holiday, don't fret. There is plenty of fun to be had right here at home today. Amongst the BBQs and Firecrackers, there are 2 fun events that caught our attention.

The first is the 2nd Annual 4th of July Rock 'N' Roll Pig Roast at Nancy Whiskey's. Two pigs are being roasted and eleven bands are playing. Some of the bands that popped out to us were Destroy This Place, Jamaican Queens and Bill Bondsmen. Between bands, a couple of DJs (DJ Anytime & His Incredible Pop Machine and DJ Eric Allen) will be entertaining the crowd. Nancy Whiskey's is located at 2644 Harrison in Detroit. This super fun event starts at 2 p.m. and admission is only $5.

The second way you should spend your day is by attending Chef Joe's Annual 4th of July Barbeque starting at 7 p.m.on The Alley Deck at The Majestic/Magic Stick. Our good friends, DJ Jefferson and East Side Jon, will be providing the entertainment. Chef Joe will be BBQing some delicious food. And we're sure one of our many favorite bartenders will be behind the bar serving nice cold beverages. The best part about this event is that it is completely FREE!  Even the food is FREE! Sounds like a pretty awesome deal and a great way to spend this super hot 4th of July! I believe in the past there were some kiddie pools at this party too. So you might not be too hot after all!

So there are at least 2 great things to do today to celebrate the birth of our country. Both are very affordable and theoretically there is no reason you can't go to both!

Whatever you do this 4th of July, we hope you have a great time and don't blow off any limbs with them firecrackers! Ya' hear?
