Mortified Detroit Debuts This Weekend

Have you ever gone back and look at your childhood diary? How about those notes you wrote to your bff in junior high school? Chances are there are some pretty dramatic and embarrassing details in there and if someone would have shared them with the world back then, you probably would have died. Somehow, when you're an adult, sharing these most intimate and humiliating pieces from your younger years isn't devastating. Instead it's pretty hilarious and that's exactly the idea behind Mortified.

Mortified Live debuted back in the early 2000s. The show brings out comics and select people from cities around the world that present their most intimate and mortifying letters, home movies, song lyrics and more from their childhood. There are shows everywhere from LA to Amsterdam, and now Detroit will join the Mortified family.

This Saturday, May 21st Mortified Detroit will have their debut show. It will feature six presenters telling stories and reading pieces from their past. The show will take place at Rust Belt Market in Ferndale. The first show at 7:30 has already sold out, but tickets are still available for a second show that was added at 10 p.m. Tickets for Mortified Detroit are only $15 and can be purchased in advance here. Tickets might be available at the door, but we don't think you should risk it. Buy them in advance.

To get a feel for what you can expect at Mortified Detroit, head over and check out their podcast here. The Rust Belt Market is located at 22801 Woodward Ave. in Ferndale, right on the northwest corner of 9 Mile and Woodward. For more info on Mortified Detroit visit the Facebook event page here.
