Win Tickets to See The Prettiots!

Party Store Productions has been bringing some really interesting bands through town lately. They have been single handily turning me on to all kinds of new tunes that I really enjoy. This week they introduced us to a New York based band called The Prettiots.

This pop duo has been named one of the 20 don't miss all female acts by Billboard and they did a really cool Tiny Desk session for NPR. We had a chance to ask Lulu Landolfi a few questions about herself and the band and we have a pair of tickets to give away to the show. The ladies will be performing at the UFO Factory this Wednesday. Read ahead to learn a lot more about the band and to find out how to enter to win!

HID- If your music was a color what color would it be and why?
Lulu Landolfi- "Periwinkle. Because it's sweet, but still kind of melancholy. Also what a dope name."

HID- It has only been about two weeks since you released your debut album Fun's Cool, what has the reaction been so far? How was the album release party?
Lulu Landolfi- "It's been amazing so far! Although, if there are haters out there, they're probably not talking to us about it. The album release party was lit af, it was so amazing to see all of the people out there supporting us."

HID- Where was the album recorded? What was the biggest challenge?
Lulu Landolfi- "Half of it was recorded upstate in this beautiful country house. We got to set up a studio with Paul Kolderie in the guest house and sit pool side between sessions. It's hard to find anything challenging about that."

HID- What is your favorite thing about being on tour?
Lulu Landolfi- "The obvious answer is getting to visit places you'd probably never get to see otherwise. But also there's something weirdly fun about only sleeping two hours a night with people you like."

HID- Have you ever been to Detroit? If so what did you think? If not what are you expecting?
Lulu Landolfi- "I've been a few times on tours, but never got to really see the city. Kay's best friend, and our cover star, is from there though so we're definitely incredibly excited."

HID- Do you consider yourselves to be feminists? Why or why not?
Lulu Landolfi- "Dabsolutely. No reason why, as everybody should be."

HID- Is there anything else you would like our readers to know?
Lulu Landolfi- "Come to our shows and please say hi! Tour gets really lonely."

Doors for the show open at 9 p.m. this Wednesday. The ladies will be performing alongside Eleanora and Minihorse. Tickets for the show are only $8 in advance and they can be purchased here. If you would like to enter to win a pair of tickets, please email your full name to hipindetroit@gmail.com with the subject line #theprettiots. We will draw one lucky winner the day of the show and email that winner details on how to claim their prize!
