Have a Drink at Firebird Tavern and Help Project Scissor Gait Foundation

A while back we told you about the Project Scissor Gait Foundation. This great foundation was started by Marty Sheedy to help people with Eagle-Barrett Syndrome and Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita. Well, this week you can help support Project Scissor Gait by doing something that you probably already plan on doing, having a drink.

This week Firebird Tavern in Detroit is raising money for PSGF with their Charitable Drink of the Week Program. For this ongoing program Firebird chooses a special drink and a special cause. When someone orders that drink, a portion of the proceeds go towards that cause. Project Scissor Gait's designated drink features equal parts of Bombay Sapphire, Sweet Vermouth and Campari and is called Firebird's Classic Negroni. It's only $5 and $1 of that will go to PGSF.

Although Firebird Tavern has a Charitable Drink of the Week pretty much every week, this week is extra special because they are also participating in Negroni Week. This event is being put on by Imbibe Magazine and Campari and it encourages bars around the world to have a Negroni Cocktail on special, with part of the proceeds going towards the charity of the bar's choice. Hence the reason that Firebird is featuring a Nebroni for PSGF. Firebird Tavern isn't the only Detroit area bar participating though! Some other favorites, like Gold Cash Gold, Republic, and Seva, are getting involved. You can check out a full list of who is participating here.

Here at Hip In Detroit we're always down for a drink, but drinking for a cause is an idea we can definitely get behind! Firebird Tavern is located at 419 Monroe St. in Detroit. Negroni Week runs June 1st through June 7th. For more information on this bar and their participation in Negroni Week, visit them on Facebook here.
