Break: Hunger 2016

The holidays are a special time where we can get together with loved ones to share a meal and celebrate the season. Many of us realize how lucky we are to have a a place to sleep, food to eat, and if we're very lucky, a few special people to share the season. It's also important to recognize that there are a lot of people who are not as fortunate, and we have to make sure that we look out for them and make sure that during the holidays and throughout the year they are at least able to get a good meal when they need it.

Gleaners Food Bank is a Detroit based organization that, "operates five distribution centers in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston and Monroe counties and provides food to 535 partner soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters and other agencies throughout southeastern Michigan". Gleaners provides approximately 79,000 meals each day, and every dollar they receive provides at least three meals to people that need it. They are a well managed organization that truly utilizes whatever resources they are given for a better purpose.

That's why this Friday, December 2nd at The Loving Touch Break Hunger 2 will be bringing together Blindshot, Nowadays, Due North, 10/90, PT’s Revenge and Fires In Japan to raise money for the food bank. Tickets to get into the event are $12 in advance and $15 the night of the show. All proceeds from the night will be going to Gleaners. They will also be accepting canned food donations throughout the night. So, if you have a few dollars to spare, grab a few more cans at the grocery store before you head up to the show and help the food bank stock up for the winter.
