Midtown Social Issues Salon at Planned Parenthood Detroit

We are huge supporters and advocates for Planned Parenthood. This organization works tirelessly to make sure that all women have access to the birth control, OBGYN visits, and the family planning that they need. I know a lot of people’s ears perk up when they hear this name because they think that all the organization does is help women get access to abortions. While that is one of the many services that some of their locations offer, it is only a small part of what makes them amazing. The education that they provide in the community is essential to the success of our society.

This Thursday, April 17th Planned Parenthood is holding a seminar to discuss sex trafficking in Metro Detroit. They have invited Deena Policicchio from Alternative for Girls to come and speak about this issue. Ms. Policiccho was part of two MSNBC documentaries called “Sex Slaves: Motor City" and "Sex Slaves: Addiction". She has dedicated her time to providing education and advocacy to end sexual exploitation of women, specifically the ladies of Metro Detroit.

The presentation will take place at 6 p.m. at the Panned Parenthood in Detroit located at 4229 Cass Ave. (Right around the corner from Avalon Breads next to Curl Up & Dye). We hope that Planned Parenthood continues to bring more speakers and more presentations in to the Detroit Metro area because we definitely have a lot of work to do to get us where we need to be.
