Meditation Works, Works!

In 1981, Loverboy declared that "everyone was working for the weekend". But, these days everyone seems to just be working. Many of us are working multiple jobs or working on some sort of side hustle to try to make it. Whether you're in a band, writing a blog, or making something cool to sell at an upcoming festival, you usually also have some sort of 9 to 5. This means that everyone is a lot more stressed out then they want to be and we all know that a lot of us aren't really dealing with it. We hear about all the healthy things we should be doing to clear our mind and de-stress, but realistically we rarely even put our phones down long enough to take a shower. It's hard to take a minute to yourself, but it's the best things that you can do to recharge your and refocus yourself.

Can you imagine how much better you would feel if you took a few minutes a day to focus and regroup? Some people call that meditation. This ancient practice has been used a across all cultures throughout history. If practiced daily, it promises to reduce anxiety and stress, lengthen attention span, and improve sleep. But, many of us simply don't have the time or focus to get ourselves to start practicing this daily. That's where Detroit based company Meditation Works comes in.

Meditation Works is a Detroit based company that wants to get you to start meditating every day. They believe that in as little as 10 minutes a day you can start to see benefits from practicing meditation, and they have found away to make sure that you take the time to do it. They have a meditation station that will literally pull up to your work so that you can come out and practice with your entire team without completely disrupting your day. The tricked out space features comfy benches, dim lighting, and a temperature controlled room that immediately puts you at ease. The idea is that you take a break, you learn to live in the moment, and you go back to work feeling refreshed and ready to take on the world.

We have always wanted to get into the practice of meditation, but we have never been able to get ourselves to take a second to give it a try. Plus, we weren't really sure that we even know how to do it. So, to see if this really works, we stopped by and tried a session in-between work and work meetings. What we found was that by taking us out of our element and guiding us through the practice, we were able to reap some pretty serious benefits in ten minutes. We went in a little stressed out and were visibly relaxed when we walked out the door. We can totally see how this would help an entire office turn their mood around pretty quickly. We all need ways to regroup and disconnect and meditation is one of the oldest and most effective ways that we can do this.

If you are interested in bringing this practice to your office, you can visit their website and find out more here. Either way, don't forget to take some time to take care of yourself before it's too late! We all have to work, but we all need some time to refocus if we want to be our best!
