Six Reasons to Attend Theatre Bizarre this Weekend

Theatre Bizarre once again has transformed The Masonic Temple into a magical and debaucherous place. This past weekend, we had the pleasure of attending the first installment of this year's Theatre Bizarre, on Saturday night. The amazing Halloween party will return to the Temple this weekend on Friday and Saturday Evening. Friday is the Masquerade Gala, which is a formal and more intimate version of Theatre Bizarre, while Saturday is the main event, a.k.a. one of the most amazing Halloween parties in the world. You can learn more about each of the night's and the festivities here

After attending this year's event, we are still in awe of the entire production. So, here are our top 6 reasons why you should attend Theatre Bizarre this year, in no particular order.

1) You will feel like you're in a movie - From the costumes to the performers to the transformation of this already amazing venue, the entire experience is over the top and amazing. It is like you're at a Halloween party that you would see in a movie, only better.
2) The decorations - Every inch of the venue is decorated for Halloween. There are tons of jack-o-lanterns, candy corn, marquee signs, art work, candles, displays, and more. The organizers don't miss a single detail. Even the lights all have an orange glow. You will seriously feel like you've been submerged in a magical Halloween world!

3) The performers - Whether you're into bands, burlesque, or everything in between, the performers at this event are over the top. Every room will feature someone in character or performing in some way. The event features great bands, sideshow style acts, burlesque dancers, and performers performing unspeakable acts. You will see and hear things that you have never seen before.
4) You get to see areas of The Masonic Temple that you've probably never seen before. - Theatre Bizarre takes over 8 levels of The Masonic Temple. This building is already amazing all on its own, so getting to see rooms other than the main theatre or the room that the Detroit Derby Girls have their bouts in, is an amazing experience. Each floor has numerous rooms and attractions, so make sure you check out them all!

5) The costumes - People go all out for this event. You will see some of the most amazing costumes you have ever seen in your life. Even the people working Theatre Bizarre are all in costume. This isn't your typical Halloween party where you will see 10 slutty nurses and couples going as ketchup and mustard. The costumes are sometimes nostalgic, and other times homemade and very artistic. Just looking at what everyone else came up with is fun on its own! Don't worry though, if you don't have a crazy costume planned already, you can always go with a masquerade mask and you will fit right in. Have fun with it!
6) The production - Like we've already said, this isn't your normal Halloween party. Every detail of this event has been thought out, even the lighting, staging, and sound. If you're nerdy like us and into this kind of thing, you are in for a treat. Our one tip, keep an eye on the eye in the temple. They were pretty genius with their lighting choice for this.

It's hard to put into words how amazing this event is. Theatre Bizarre is truly an amazing night that you need to experience at least once. But we're sure, if you go once, you will go back again.
