Everything that is Old is New Again at Fleatroit this Saturday!

There is an old saying that goes "one person's trash is another person's treasure". The idea is that just because you are "over" something doesn't mean that it doesn't have any worth, it just means that it might be time to let someone else own it. Second-hand shopping is a fun way to get new items at a heavy discount and is great for the environment. We have become a throwaway culture and fast fashion is literally ruining the planet, which means it's time for us to embrace reducing our new purchases while finding ways to reuse the things that we already own. Pop-up flea markets are one of our favorite ways to buy fun new things second hand. The sellers usually work very hard to curate a "store" with items that everyone will want to see. I no longer want to browse a thrift store to find that perfect item, but I love to peruse other people's collections to see what kind of treasures I can find.

UFO Factory is hosting an event this Saturday called Fleatroit Junk City. This one day only vintage pop-up will feature curated collections from 7 different collectors that you can shop through while you listen to music from DJ Dave-Jah-Vu. You can even enjoy a drink and a hot dog if you are so inclined. The pop-up event will feature vintage men’s and women’s attire, housewares, bric-a-brac, records, tapes, VHS, books, art, handmade items, and more. The event will run from noon until 6 p.m. this Saturday, March 16th. UFO Factory is located at 2110 Trumbull in Detroit. You can keep up with updates on the event here.
