Take a Journey to Both Coasts at Voyager

Voyager is Ferndale's hot little secret. It is a mega unique restaurant located in a small unassuming white brick building on the city's east side. Their menu features a variety of fresh fish and small side dishes that are meant to accompany their main attraction, oysters. This is the city's first real oyster bar! They have a huge menu of east coast and west coast oysters that are flown in daily. In fact, the staff comes in a little early to shuck the little guys themselves. They also have a  full bar that specializes in Mai Tai's and a few other house cocktails they have created or put their own unique twist on.

Voyager has a happy hour from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. every day, during this time the space features $1 oysters and $3 mixed drinks. The special changes daily and it is the deal of a lifetime. It's usually impossible to find decent oysters for under $3 a piece, but to get freshly shucked oysters that were flown in that day for only a dollar $1 seems like it would be a scam. We can assure you that it isn't. We recently had a chance to stop by during their happy hour and try it out for ourselves. Their food is as fresh and amazing as we hoped it would be. While we were there, we sampled a few items off the menu and would highly recommend that you try the blue fin tuna, the grilled broccoli and the tuna on the hibachi. We really enjoyed all of them, especially the broccoli.

Voyager is open from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 4 p.m. till 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Your best bet is to come during happy hour and go crazy eating oysters before kicking back with a few main dishes and a cocktail or two. Voyager will serve you up some good food, some strong drinks, and a unique experience you can't get anywhere else in the area.

Voyager is located at 600 Vester St. in Ferndale. For more info head to VoyagerFerndale.com.
