The Dessert Oasis

These days the city of Detroit is full or artisan coffee shops like Great Lakes, Astro Coffee, and The Roasting Plant, it is very easy to find a good cup of joe inside the city limits. But, outside the city is a different story. I am so sick of Starbucks, it always tastes burnt and it costs too much for what it is.  Bean and Leaf is pretty good, but it doesn't compare to the previous places that I mentioned. I thought that I was destined to have sub par coffee when I was in the the 'burbs until my recent discovery of The Dessert Oasis in Downtown Rochester. If you live in the area, this is going to be your new favorite place to grab a warm drink on a cold day.

Dessert Oasis roasts all of their coffees in small batches in a 3 kilo USRC Roaster. The shop features specialty baked desserts, light lunch items like sandwich rolls, and chocolate and cheese fondues table side. They take your order, give you a playing card, and deliver a one of a kind treat right to you. The space has both tables and couches to sit at and they of course offer free wifi to their customers. They also have a small stage where local musicians can perform live music Monday through Saturday.

The space is open Monday-Thursday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., from 7 a.m. to Midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sundays. This has quickly become one of my favorite places to hang out and write, in fact I'm sitting here enjoying a mocha latte as I type this article.

The Dessert Oasis is located at 336 South Main Street in Rochester, Michigan, Stop in and grab a cup the next time you're in the area! To keep up with the music schedule and learn about new deals and offers, add Dessert Oasis on Facebook here.
