Celebrate the Release of New Music From The ILL Itches at PJ's Lager House this Saturday

It was around this time last year that we asked The ILL Itches to open our 2 year anniversary show that took place in February. We loved what these boys were up to and we wanted to make sure that all of Detroit was hip to their awesome sound. They killed it on stage and made us proud. They helped us celebrate our anniversary, so it's our time to return the favor and help them celebrate this time around.

This weekend The ILL Itches will be releasing their latest single "Hallelujah b/w Revolving Door" on Jett Plastic Records. We decided we needed to check in with the guys and get some details about the recording and release of their newest single. Check out what they had to say and head out to see them play alongside Caveman Woodman with Bam Bam Moss, YUM, and the Prude Boys this Saturday, December 6th at The Lager House. It's only $7 to get in and the admission fee includes a copy of the new 7" for you to take home. The boys were also kind enough to let us do a giveaway, two lucky readers will win a pair of tickets to the show and a copy of The ILL Itches new 7 inch. To enter to win, please email your full name to hipindetroit@gmail.com with The ILL Itches in the subject. We will choose two winners the morning of the show and email them details on how to claim their prize!

HID- Describe your new album using three words.
ILL- "Hallelujah! (Holy Hell.)"

HID- Where did you record this album? How long did it take?
ILL- "At Rancho Verde Sound Lab in Ferndale, with Zach Shipps. In about 6 hours and 2.5 smoke breaks."

HID- Were there any road bumps in recording the album?
ILL- "Other than Matt (Livengood, our drummer) wiping out on a huge patch of ice & busting his @ss while carrying in drum hardware, it went pretty smoothly."

HID- Any funny stories from the recording sessions?
ILL- "Matt (Mruzek, our bass player/vocalist) recording the A-side's vocal track. Listen. And you'll know."

HID- Will the album come out vinyl/ CD/ digital download?
ILL- "The first release will be entirely vinyl: 500 copies, with some cool variant editions sprinkled in there. Everyone coming out to the release show will get a copy of the 7", and it includes a download link for people who prefer to have the MP3s. We like the vinyl format and support that as much as possible, so no real plans to release it in any other formats right now."

HID- Who is playing the album release party? Why did you pick these bands to play with you?
ILL- "Prude Boys: They've got a different kind of sound. And their drummer plays standing up.
YUM: They're one of the best bands in Detroit. They play loud, hooky songs...perfect for a party.
Caveman Woodman & Bam Bam Moss: They're Caveman Woodman. And Bam Bam Moss. And they rock."

Doors open at 8 p.m.  We agree with The ILL Itches, these are some pretty solid openers! So don't get there late!
