A Whitney Garden Party with The Witches!

Last week the Trash Brats kicked off this year's Whitney Garden Parties with a special acoustic set from Ricky Rat and Brian McCarty. This Thursday night the fun continues with another legendary Detroit band, The Witches.

The Witches were formed in 1996, however the lineup has changed a bit since then. Troy Gregory is still the lead man, but now he is backed by Craig Adams (Guitar), Peter Geloso (Guitar), Stefan Carr (Bass), Mary Alice (Keyboard) and Eugene Strobe (Drums). We caught a song from The Witches' set during The Blowout. You can check it out below.

The Whitney Garden Party is just what it sounds like. This is a weekly party that takes place in the beautiful gardens outside the historic Whitney restaurant in Midtown. The mansion that is home to this great restaurant was built in 1894 and was actually the home of lumber baron David Whitney, Jr. His family resided there until the 1920s. Between that time and when the restaurant opened in 1986, the mansion was the Wayne County Medical Society and was occupied by the Visiting Nurses Association. The building and the grounds have quite a rich history, which you can read here.

The Whitney Garden provides an outdoor setting for lunch on Monday through Friday as well as Dinner seven nights a week, from May through September. During The Whitney Garden Party there are drink specials as well as some food available. You can even get a complimentary glass of champagne during the pre-party if you "like" The Whitney Garden Party on Facebook here and then text GARDEN to 44100! The party runs from 6-8 p.m with the pre-party from 5:30-6:30 and Happy Hour specials 'til 7 p.m. So, basically show up at 5:30 and stay until the band finishes around 8! Admission is free and 21+ are welcome. For all of the details on this week's Garden Party, check out Facebook event page here. The Whitney is located at 4421 Woodward Avenue in Detroit.
