Hip in Detroit's Picks for the Weekend - January 6 - 8, 2023

Friday, January 6th - Sunday, January 8th - Fire & Ice Festival @ Valade Park: We've been lucky enough to have a pretty mild winter so far, so get outside and enjoy it while it lasts! This weekend, Valade Park will be hosting some winter fun with a medieval theme. Activities include ice carving, axe throwing, roaming Renaissance characters, a Quest activity, blacksmith demos and period music. There will also be a 7-foot ice tower that will incase a giant bonfire. Fire & Ice Fest at Valade Park will take place Friday from 4 p.m. - 9 p.m., Saturday from noon - 9 p.m., and Sunday from noon - 7 p.m. Check out the full schedule of events here.

Friday, January 6th - $5 Dance Party @ Ant Hall: Dance the night away with Deastro, Manuel Gonzalez, Lazarus, Auntie Chanel, Gallons & Feral Stray this Friday night at Ant Hall. Cover is only $5 and the party starts at 8 p.m.

Saturday, January 7th - Elspeth Tremblay & The Treatment, The Hourlies, and more @ The Old Miami: The Old Miami has a fun show lined up this Saturday night and $5 gets you in the door. The bill includes The Hourlies, Elspeth Tremblay & The Treatment, Elephant Den, and The Plutophonics. Things kick off at 9 p.m. and 21+ are welcome. 

Saturday, January 7th - Birthday Party for The King @ Cadieux Cafe: This Sunday, January 8th, Elvis Presley would have been 88 years old. Although The King is no longer with us, you can still celebrate his birthday, his legacy, and his music this Saturday night at Cadieux Cafe. The lineup for the night includes the one and only Eastside Elvis & The Motor City Mafia along with BRENDA. Cover is $5 and doors open at 8 p.m.
