Win Tickets to Holiday Flower and Radio Wire Empire's Release Show

Ancient Language and Earth Engine are two band names that we are sure that you have heard of plenty of times. If you are a regular reader of Hip in Detroit, we talk about both of these acts quite a bit. Well, this weekend members of both of those bands are playing a show together, but neither Earth Engine or Ancient Language will be on stage. Instead it will be other projects that members of these bands are working on, Holiday Flower and Radio Wire Empire.

Holiday Flower is a newer project for Zachary Jarvis and Matt Beyer of Ancient Language. The band has a unique sound, blending together electronic tracks with rock elements. They currently have three songs available on Soundcloud, you can give them a listen below. After giving them a listen ourselves, at times their sound resembled MGMT, but then quickly give us more of a The Postal Service vibe, then reminded us of some of our favorite bands of the early 2000s, like Head Automatica. In our book, these are all good things, so we are definitely digging the music that this duo is making.

Radio Wire Empire on the other hand, is not so new and has numerous releases that you can give a listen here. It is the solo project of Matthew Romanski of Earth Engine and "continues to be a worthy vessel for imaginative sound- and word-scape in familiar but fresh pop form". His latest release for this project is called Strawberry Long Play and features fellow members of Earth Engine as well as Beyer (Ancient Language).

This Friday, Radio Wire Empire will be celebrating the official release of this new album at Outer Limits Lounge. Holiday Flower, will also be celebrating the release of their debut album. Joining these two bands on the bill is Duchess (Chicago/Tampa). Cover to see these three great acts live is only $5 and 21+ are welcome. We are also getting a couple of readers into this show for free though. To enter to win, send your name to hipindetroit@gmail.com with #releaseshow in the subject line. We will draw two winners on Friday morning and they will each get in the door that night with a friend for free.

Doors are set to open at 8 p.m. on Friday. For more info, click here.
