Eastern Market Hosts Its 51st Flower Day this Sunday

Flower Day is coming to the Eastern Market this Sunday, May 20th. The 50+ year old tradition is the perfect place to pick up all of your indoor and outdoor plants for the season. The usually vibrant market becomes even more full of life as Metro Detroiters flood into the sheds to pick up all of their favorite Spring and Summer flowers at a growers price. There are flats and flats of flowers and lots of farmers that are ready to make a deal. If you want to decorate your garden and take it to the next level this year, Flower Day is the perfect day to make it happen.

Flower Day will take place from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. this Sunday, May 20th. There is usually a lot of traffic off the highway, so plan accordingly!  Parking is generally free in the market, but can be difficult to find. This hand map will show you were to look, but if all else fails, wear some walking shoes, bring a wagon and plan to get a little exercise. Don't forget! The market is OPEN EVERY SATURDAY all year round and they ALWAYS have flowers. So, if you don't want to mess with the traffic, come back next week and spend a few extra dollars to get all of your flowers and some locally grown veggies!
