Win Tickets to See Nick Offerman at The Fillmore

A few years ago one of my friends was the house photographer at Royal Oak Music Theatre, which meant that I got to go see a lot of shows, or at least the first 10 to 20 minutes of them. I always tried to tag along when the venue was hosting comedians because I have found that comedy is a lot more interesting in person than it can be on film. Over the years I saw all sorts of comedians from the stand-ups of The Chelsea Handler Show (surprisingly good) to Bob Saget (surprisingly bad).  But, one of the most memorable sets that I saw during that time was Nick Offerman. He was hot on the heels of his Parks and Rec fame and I didn't even realize who we were seeing until he took the stage. I also didn't know that he was married to Karen from Will and Grace, but his relationship humor was on point and I remember laughing so hard that I was crying. It was one of the rare times that we actually stayed for the whole two-hour show. It was, in the end, one of the best stand-up sets that I have ever experienced.

This Saturday, Nick is returning to Detroit to play two back to back shows at The Fillmore. Tickets to attend the show are $40 to $120 in advance and they can be purchased here. We also have one pair of tickets to giveaway to the show courtesy of Live Nation Detroit. If you would like to go see how funny Nick is for yourself, but you cant afford to buy a pair, we suggest trying to win these tickets!  To enter please email your full name to hipindetroit@gmail.com with the subject line #laugh.  We will draw one lucky winner early on Saturday and they will get to attend the second show of the night (doors at 10:30 p.m.) for free!
