Detroit's World Space Party

On April 12th, 1961 Yuri Gagarin became the fist human to orbit in outer space. He successfully completed his mission and proved to everyone that it could be done. Each year people gather to honor the memory of that first flight into to space and all the flights that came after it. This year, Detroit will commemorate the day by playing host to The World Space Party at The Michigan Science Center on April 11th, 2015.

The party will feature a rocket launch, a planetarium experience, a webcast linking you to other parties throughout the world, live painting by Armageddon Beachparty, an aerial performance by Irina Laura Borealis, Interactive Science Exhibits, themed cocktails, and space themed cinema. The rocket launch will feature an experimental DJ score featuring a live performance by musician Audra Kubat.

This event is free and all ages are welcome. The party starts at 9 p.m. and The Michigan Science Center is located at 5020 John R. St. in Detroit.
