Recap of Residue 2013

Artwork by Tony Rave
If you take 11 Mile through Oak Park you may notice a large pig painted on a building. This pig was painted by Tony Rave, one of the three artists that released their work this past Friday at an art show called Residue. The other two artists, Olivia Dodson and Bone, also had work showing at the exhibit that was full of people, food, and drinks. The room was actually so crowded that it was too hot inside despite the 10 degree temperatures outside.

I was excited about this show because we had previewed the work and talked to the artists about a month ago. I couldn't believe how well everything turned out and how many people came to party. They had music playing throughout the night, a performance by two gentlemen on guitars, and beer & wine were plentiful. There were three separate areas with artwork and every wall was covered with something interesting to look at.

I loved Olivia’s paintings of woman with big hips and was very tempted to buy a piece myself. They even had a symbolically roasted a pig in the middle of the room to celebrate Tony’s series.

The show will be up for a few more weeks and the gallery is called The Scharolette Chappell Fine Art Studio which is located at 14701 W. 11 Mile Rd., Oak Park, MI 48237. Check out some pictures of the show and if you're in the market for some new decor for your home or a space to hold a art show of your own, we suggest that you check it out.
