Hip in Detroit's Picks for the Weekend: November 1-3

Friday, November 1st - Sunday, November 3rd - Youmacon: This is the ultimate convention for all anime fans! Don't be surprised if you see some of your favorite characters walking around downtown this weekend! Youmacon is celebrating its 15th year this year and the convention is bigger than ever. It will take place all weekend long at the TCF Center, Crowne Plaza and Marriott Renaissance Center. Tickets range from $30-$50 a day or $70 for the weekend. Get all of the details here


Friday, November 1st - The Darned @ Small's w/ Motor City Devils and Glamzig: Halloween may be over, but Small's is still in the spirit! Check out three great cover bands and wear a costume if you want! Doors open at 8 p.m., 18+ are welcome, and cover is only $6.


Friday, November 1st - Hourlies @ Ghost Light with The Idiot Kids and Jackson & The Poolsharks: This is going to be a great show with three awesome bands. Cover is only $5 and 21+ are welcome. Things kick off at 8 p.m. Make sure you come early so you don't miss any of the bands! There's something for everyone at this show! 


Friday, November 1st & Saturday, November 2nd - Midnight Madness @ The Main Art - "The Silence of the Lambs": One of the creepiest movies of all time will be on the big screen again this weekend for Midnight Madness at The Main Art in Royal Oak. The movie plays at midnight on Friday and Saturday and tickets are only $7. Pick yours up here


Saturday, November 2nd - Fall In Love Adoption Event @ DACC: There are hundreds of dogs and cats available for adoption at Detroit Animal Care and Control once again! This Saturday, the Friends of DACC are hosting a special adoption event where fees will be waved for all adoptions! The event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and you can check out some of the pets that are available for adoption here. DACC is located at 7401 Chrysler Dr. in Detroit. 


Sunday, November 3rd - Dead Man's Halloween-themed Brunch @ Small's: Wrap up your Halloween weekend at Small's this Sunday for a special "dead man" themed brunch. There will be Bloody Mary and Mimosa specials, "deadly and decadent pumpkin cheesecake french toast, monstrous breakfast burritos and more!" Plus, DJ Pleasure Kitten will be playing tunes for you during brunch! It runs from noon 'til 4 p.m. and you can keep an eye on the Facebook event to see the full menu.
