See The Rocky Horror Picture Show at Cinema Detroit

This weekend only Cinema Detroit will be showing one of the most infamous movies of all time, The Rocky Horror Picture Show! The movie starring Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, and Barry Bostwick was released over 40 years ago, back in 1975. It's the story of, "A newly engaged couple [that] have a breakdown in an isolated area and must pay a call to the bizarre residence of Dr. Frank-N-Furter." Check out the trailer below.

If you've ever been to a Rocky Horror show before, you know it's quite an experience. Most of the crowd comes in costume and they heckle and sing along. Well Cinema Detroit is encouraging all of this, especially the costumes. They will be having costume contests all weekend long, in which the winners will receive a Cinema Detroit pass good for 12 free tickets, one per month for the next year. There will be several categories for the contest, including Brad, Janet, Riff Raff, Criminologist (Narrator), Magenta, Columbia, Rocky, Eddie, Dr. Scott and “Best Transylvanian”. In addition to the costume contest, the theater will also have prop bags available with rice, rings, newspapers, flashlights, rubber gloves, noisemakers, toilet paper, toast, party hats, and cards. However, since there are props available on site, you can't bring your own from home.

Cinema Detroit will be showing Rocky Horror Picture Show this Friday and Saturday, February 12th and 13th at 9 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance here. Prop bags will be an additional $6.

Rocky Horror Picture Show is rated R. Cinema Detroit is located at 4126 Third Street in Midtown Detroit. For more info and showtimes, head to CinemaDetroit.com.
