This Star Wars Day, May the Force Be With You

If you are a fan of Star Wars, you already know that May 4th is Star Wars Day. If you didn't know that, now you do. Because of the popular phrase, "May the Force be with you", from the iconic films, May the 4th began to be recognized by fans as Star Wars Day. It's a play on words. "May the Force"... May the 4th... get it? With this unofficial holiday coming up right around the corner, there are some special celebrations planned around the Metro Detroit area.

The first, and probably the most popular, is the Annual Star Wars Pin Up Contest presented by the Detroit Psychobilly Alliance. This is the fourth year that this event has taken place and once again this year it will be happening at Small's in Hamtramck. The event features bands, burlesque, and broads dressed up in Star Wars-esque pinup attire. It is happening the night before the 4th, on Sunday, May 3rd. Scotty Karate and Cash O'Riley will be performing and female attendees 18+ are encouraged to dress up and participate in the contest. Admission is $7 in advance or $10 at the door.

Then, on May the 4th, The Loving Touch is inviting you out to watch the original trilogy with them. They will be showing the movies on the big screen and they aren't messing around. They will be playing the original theatrical releases of the trilogy, because really, that's the only way to go.

In addition to these fun events, some of your favorite big chains even have festivities planned. For a list of some other events going on, head over to the official Star Wars page here. Happy Star Wars Day and May the Force be with you!
