A Few Words with JMSN

Detroit born JMSN (aka Christian Berishaj) has come along way form his humble beginnings right here in the Motor City. He has traveled the world, put out a critically acclaimed album, and moved to L.A., but you wouldn't know it. He is still the same kid who grew up right here in the Midwest. He is R & B's new rebel, he doesn't conform to one genre and he cannot be compared to any other acts out there. He has the voice of an angel, he looks like hipster Jesus, and unless he is singing or writing he's a man of few words.

During our interview with Christian he didn't have a lot to say, he saves what he has to say for the stage and his music, and that is fine with us because he writes and produces amazing songs. His latest album The Blue Album can be heard here and you can catch him live at The Long Touch this Thursday, May 7th. Check out our brief interview with the man behind the music and head out  to catch him live this week!

HIP- We read that you got your first guitar in forth grade so we have to ask, what was the first song that you learned to play?
JMSN- "Probably Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit"

HIP- You write and record all of your own music. How many different instruments do you play and what are they?
JMSN- "I am able to play any instrument, it’s just if I can play it well or not. Guitar I’m probably the best at, but still not very good at that hahaha."

HIP- Why did you leave Detroit for LA?
JMSN- "To try to “make it” heh heh"

HIP- What do you miss most about Detroit?
JMSN- "Was nice to be around family and friends for sure."

HIP- How would you describe your music to someone that has never heard you before?
JMSN- "Waves of the ocean."

HIP- What inspires you to create music?
JMSN- "Life in general. Everyday I’m learning something new."
