Hip In Detroit's Picks for the Weekend: May 5-7

We already told you about Spring STUNR Fest at Small's! Here are some other fun things happening this weekend!

Friday, May 5th & Saturday, May 6th - Space Dive @ Tangent Gallery: Every year on May the 4th (also known by many as Star Wars Day) the Tangent Gallery transforms into Mos Eisley Cantina. When you enter the space, you'd think you're right in A New Hope because not only is the space out of this world, but everyone around you is dressed head to toe as a character from Star Wars. If this sounds right up your alley, head to Space Dive at the Tangent this Friday or Saturday night! Presale tickets are sold out, but there will be some available at the door. Costumes are a must and $35 gets you in. The party goes from 7 p.m. - 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday night and 21+ are welcome. There's also a Family Day on Saturday afternoon from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Kids get in to that event for free and adults are $5. Get all of the details at

Friday, May 5th - Sunday, May 7th - Eastern Palace Cantina: If you want to get in on the Star Wars Celebration, but Space Dive is a little too over the top for you, head to Eastern Palace in Hazel Park instead. If you're interested in celebrating Cinco de Mayor or the Kentucky Derby, they've got you covered for those too! Eastern Palace is going to be celebrating all three all weekend long with special drinks, décor, and more. Smoked Lotus BBQ will be serving up food all three days too! The fun starts at 4 p.m. daily and you have to be 21+ to get in after 8.

Friday, May 5th - Brat Pack Party @ The High Dive: Step into the '80s at The High Dive in Hamtramck this Friday night! They will be hosting Brat Pack Friday, an 80's dance party and vintage pop-up. Six local vintage vendors will be popping up, including Old Soul Vintage and Fleatroit, and Ash from Haute to Death will be providing the tunes. Party goers are encourage to dress the part and $5 will get them in the door. 21+ are welcome and the fun goes from 7 p.m. - midnight.

Saturday, May 6th - 12 Hour Party @ Marble Bar: This Saturday night, the party starts at 9 p.m. at Marble Bar and it doesn't stop until 9 a.m.! Music will be live across two stages for the night, with featured sets from Planet of the Drums, DJ N Fox, and Earth Beat. Tickets are $27.15 and can be purchased in advance here. 21+ are welcome.

Sunday, May 7th - Gusher @ City Club: A few weeks ago, Gusher reminded us why you have to get to shows early when they opened for Child Bite. We know, we've mentioned them a couple of times lately, but we're telling you again that you need to check this band out! This Sunday, they will be playing at City Club (yes, City Club) with Checker and Tunic from Canada. Doors open at 7 p.m., the music starts at 8, and $10 gets you in. We know you've been wanting to go to City Club again, so here's your excuse! Head over to Bandcamp to check out Gusher here. Give Tunic a listen here and check out Checker here

Don't forget, this Saturday is also Free Comic Book Day! So swing by your local comic book store and see what's up for grabs this year! Get more info here
