Hip in Detroit's Picks for the Weekend: September 24-26

We already told you about DIY Street Fair happening in downtown Ferndale this weekend. Here are some other fun things that you should check out!

Friday, September 24th and Saturday, September 25th - DLECTRICITY: DLECTRICITY returns to Detroit this weekend! This "nighttime festival of art, light and technology" will include displays from over 40 artists at Beacon Park and throughout Detroit's Cultural Center, by the DIA. There will be sculptures, projection installations, and more. The event is free and open to the public. It will take place from 7 p.m. to midnight each night. Friday, September 24th - Warren's Food Truck Rally: Kick your weekend off by grabbing dinner at a food truck rally in Warren! The rally will take place in front of Warren's City Hall, off Van Dyke just north of 12 Mile. There will be over a dozen food trucks in attendance, including Go Cheez, Pita Post, Buffy’s Mexi-Casian, Flavors, Twisted Street BBQ, Cookies and Cream, Fun Food Express, Phat Rob's Foodlove, JJ’s Fish and Shrimp, Motor City Sweet Treats, Cajun Soul Sistas, Great Lakes Food Truck, and Khalipha’s Mobile Kitchen. Admission is free and parking is free. There will also be a beer tent and a DJ. The rally kicks off at 4 p.m. and goes until 9. 


Friday, September 24th - Stef Chura @ Outer Limits Lounge: Party Store Productions brings Stef Chura to the stage for a hometown show at Outer Limits. The show is outdoors, so that means it starts early and ends early. Things kick off at 7 p.m. and will wrap up by 10 p.m., so don't show up late! Milk Bath and Jeremy Waun will be kicking off the show. Tickets are $8 in advance or $12 at the door. Advance tickets can be purchased here. 21+ are welcome.




Friday, September 24th - Emily Rose and Carmel Liburdi @ Ghost Light: Live music is back at Ghost Light in Hamtramck! This Friday night, Emily Rose will be performing live along with Carmel Liburdi, Erin Incoherent, Nina Sofia, and Friends. Doors open at 9 p.m. and the show starts at 10 p.m. Cover is $10 and 21+ are welcome. Before you go, make sure you review Planet Ant's Covid policy here



Saturday, September 25th - Hairspray @ Senate Theater: See the classic and fun John Waters' film Hairspray on the big screen at the Senate this Saturday night! Take a trip back in time with Tracy & Penny in the film and also take a trip back in time in the lobby because there will also be a 60's Vintage Pop-Up Market at the theater. Flamingo Vintage and other vintage clothing sellers will be on site before the show, selling vintage wares that you will love. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the movie starts at 8. Tickets are $6 and can be purchased in advance here

Sunday, September 26th - Sunday Brunch Valade Park: This is the last weekend to experience Sunday Brunch on the Riverfront at Valade Park! Sip drinks, grab a bite to eat, and shop with local businesses along the Riverfront from noon - 4 p.m. There is also live music and food from Bob's Barge, Smokey G's, and Geisha Girls.
