DIY Street Fair Returns to Downtown Ferndale this Weekend

DIY Street Fair is special. Upon first glance, it might appear to be another outdoor festival that features a few vendors. some music, and food, but even though it has the same ingredients as a lot of other local gatherings, it has its own unique energy and flavor.

DIY is created by and for the community. For three magical days, 9 Mile and Troy street are shut down so everyone can come out to see what their neighbors have been making, cooking, and practicing to perform in front of a crowd. The event features great locally brewed beers, opportunities to support your favorite local charities, and there is always at least one place to buy an elephant ear or an ice cream.

DIY will be a little different this year, but we think that's a good thing. They have moved the stage towards the library to give everyone some room to spread out and they have selected the perfect mix of old and new vendors to make sure that there is something interesting for everyone that attends. They have also gotten rid of the ticket system so that getting a drink will be simple and easy!

DIY Street Fair will take place this weekend from 6 p.m. - Midnight Friday, September 24th, 11 a.m.-Midnight on Saturday, September 25th and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, September 26th.

This year's musical acts are as follows:

FRIDAY  9/24

7:30   DUENDE

8:45   THE BEGGARS

10:00  THE MUGGS

SATURDAY  9/25

5:30   THE MYTHICS

6:45   WHITE BEE

SUNDAY  9/26

4:45   GOLD CRAYON

6:00   MAC SATURN

Parking should also be a little easier this year thanks to The Dot. Sure, it's on the other side of Woodward, but so is the Funky Ferndale Art Fair and we suggest you plan to walk through both events if you make the trek to Downtown Ferndale! Don't forget, many of Downtown Ferndale's stores and restaurants will also be open and running specials and events throughout the weekend. The whole community goes out of their way to make this event extra special.
