Hip in Detroit's Picks for the Weekend: August 27-29

Friday, August 27th - Jumanji: The Next Level (2019) @ New Center Park: Summer is winding down and along with it goes the summer outdoor events. This Friday night is your last chance to catch a movie in the park at New Center Park. Jumanji: The Next Level starring Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Awkwafina, Jack Black, Karen Gillan will be playing and admission is free. Saturday, August 28th - Night Markets @ Beacon Park: Another summer event that is wrapping up this weekend is Night Markets at Beacon Park. This Saturday night is your last chance to head to the park for live music, drinks, and shopping under the stars. This week, the tunes will be provided by DJ Invisible and Denise Davis and the Motor City Sensations. Saturday, August 28th - Koffin Kats @ Small's: Detroit's own Koffin Kats return to the stage at Small's this Saturday night! The trio will be performing with J. Navarro & The Traitors and The Class Fives. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 in the door. You can purchase advance tickets online here. Don't forget, Small's is trying to keep everyone safe by requiring proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test from within 48 hours. Saturday, August 28th - Almost Free @ PJ's Lager House: Almost Free is back to playing live shows and this Saturday night they are playing at PJ's Lager House. Also on the bill are The Blitzers and Deadsurf. Cover is only $7, doors open at 9 p.m. and the show starts at 10. 

Saturday, August 28th & Sunday, August 29th - Hazel Park Art Fair: Shop with local makers and vendors this weekend at Green Acres Park for the Hazel Park Art Fair! There will be over 80 booths, as well as food trucks, a charity beer tent, and live music. The fair takes place on Saturday from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Admission is free.
