Hip in Detroit's Picks for the Weekend: April 19-21





Friday, April 19th - Detroit Rock City Skate NiteGeminEye Tarot & Heavy and Beyond are bringing rock & roll to the roller skating rink this Friday night! The team will be taking over RollerCade Roller Rink for a night of roller skating to the music of Alice Cooper and KISS. Heavy & Beyond will be DJing while you roll around the rink and there will be raffle prizes too! Costumes and makeup are highly encouraged. Cover is $10 (which includes skate rental) and proceeds will be going towards cancer treatment for Taryn Carter. Doors open at 10 p.m. and the rink is open until 1 a.m.






Friday, April 19th - The Lucid Furs Album Release Show @ Small's: One of the best bands in Detroit right now, The Lucid Furs, is celebrating the release of their sophomore album Friday night at Small's. No God? No Problem will be available at the show and you can listen to the first two singles off of the album here. The Lucid Furs have an awesome lineup joining them for the night with Krillin, The Scapes and Scissor Now. Cover is $10 and doors are at 8 p.m. Come hungry because Renegade Kitchen will be serving up food too!





Saturday, April 20th - Haute to Death @ Marble BarHaute to Death is always one of the best parties around and this month they return to Marble Bar. Saturday's event will feature a special set from Loren (LOBOS / My Baby) and visuals from François Decomble on the big screen. The night will feature New Wave, Post Punk, Italo, House and more. Cover is only $3 before 11 p.m. and $5 after 11. Doors open at 10 and 21+ are welcome.

Saturday, April 20th - RiDetroit Season Opening Party @ George Gregory: RiDetroit is one of the latest projects of the one and only Jason Hall. You may know him as one of the masterminds that started Slow Roll or that handsome guy that's on Live in the D sometimes. Well, now he is hosting guided bike rides through Detroit, like mural tours, giving you a look at the city like you've never seen it before. Saturday's event is the kickoff the 2019 season. There will be food, drinks, giveaways, demonstrations, and music from Emily Thornhill. Admission is free, but you must RSVP here. Saturday, April 20th - Puff Puff Passover @ Outer Limits Lounge: Passover starts on April 19th and Saturday is 4/20, so when he two collide, you get Puff Puff Passover. This show will feature none other than James Linck along with Eyes Cried Shut (JP from the HP), Mic Phelps & The Plug, and Clyde Moop. There will also be food, drink specials, and giant Jenga. Cover is only $5 and doors open at 8 p.m.
