Celebrate National Mead Day at Cellarmen's

This Saturday, August 6th National Mead Day will be celebrated at meaderies across the country and Cellarmen's will be joining in on the celebration! In case you didn't know, the Hazel Park microbrewery makes mead in addition to their great bears and hard ciders. Typically they have about a handful of different meads available, but they're working on something special for this weekend!

In honor of National Mead Day, this Saturday Cellarmen's will unveil some special releases. One mead, that they're calling Swamp Water, is a "cucumber sweet basil mead made with 100% Michigan sourced ingredients, including bio-dynamically grown basil from Detroit-based ROI urban farms". They also will have a limited run of dry raspberry mead fermented in Motor City Gas whiskey barrels and other surprise meads throughout the day.

In addition to great mead, Cellarmen's will also have entertainment on Mead Day! Saturday night beginning at 8 p.m. the brewpub will host their new monthly comedy night. They have 5 great comedians lined up, including Gad Holland, Blain Hill, Nicki Wright, Joel Walkowski and Zach Martina. The event will be hosted by John Mahar and Alex Bozinovic and $5 will get you in the door.

Admission to Cellarmen's is free during the day, prior to the comedy showcase. Their doors are set to open at Noon on Saturday, with mead available by the glass throughout the day and you can even by a 32 oz. crowler to go!
